After one of the worst losses in franchise history the Arizona Cardinals will be looking for blood against the struggling Detroit Lions on Dec. 8, 2002. Expect big performances by David Boston (WR) and Jake Plummer (QB).

Thomas Jones (RB) broke his hand in the Cardinals 41-20 loss to the Oakland Raiders on Nov. 24, 2002. Jones is expected to miss the remainder of the 2002 season. In nine games this season Thomas Jones ran for 511 yards and two touchdowns.

David Boston (WR) will likely miss the rest of the 2002 season after sustaining a season-ending torn tendon in his right knee. If Boston chooses to undergo surgery he will miss the rest of the season. (Nov. 10, 2002)  David Boston (WR) will become a high profile free agent this summer along with teammate Jake Plummer (QB).

The Arizona Cardinals are expecting Jake Plummer and David Boston to take the Cardinals into the playoffs this season. If this is to be accomplished the Cardinals will need to play better in between the blocks and their secondary will have to make better decisions. The Cardinals didn't pay Duane Starks big free agent dollars to give up two big touchdowns in the season opener against the Washington Redskins. Although Stever Spurrier's offense is surprising/conniving the Arizona Cardinals secondary will have to stand firm if the Cardinals are going to make a serious run at the playoffs.

The running game is another big concern for the Cardinals. Thomas Jones has had a mediocre season this year which puts more pressure on Plummer, who has had ineffective outings as well.

If the Arizona Cardinals secondary and running backs can step up and earn their multi-million dollar salaries, then the Arizona Cardinals might find themselves in the Playoffs and might even end the season in San Diego (the site of this years Super Bowl).
