Mika Noronen (G)  and Rory Fitzpatrick (D) were recalled from Rochester of the American Hockey League. To make room on the active roster the Sabres sent Ryan Miller (G) to Rochester on Nov. 26, 2002.

Offseason Acquisitions

On Sept. 5, 2002 the Sabres agreed to terms with restricted free agent Maxim Afinogenov (RW) on a multi-year contract.

On August 8, 2002 the Sabres signed free agent Peter Ratchuk (D), who played with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2001-02.

Trades

The Sabres acquired Jochen Hecht (C) from the Edmonton Oilers for two 2002 second-round draft picks on June 23, 2002.

The Sabres acquired  Bob Corkum (C) from the Atlanta Thrashers for a 2002 fifth-round draft pick on March 20, 2002.
