The Panthers snapped a 8-game losing streak with a hard-nosed 13-6 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 1, 2002.

Kory Minor and Josh Taves were signed to the active roster on Nov. 26, 2002. The same day the Panthers claimed Tutan Reyes (OL) off waivers from the New Orleans Saints. To make room on the 53-man roster the Panthers released Terrance Simmons (DL) and Nate Jacquet (WR).

Steve Smith (WR) returned apologetically to the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 25, 2002. Smith, the teams leading receiver, was suspended for one game following a altercation with practice squad teammate Anthony Bright (WR). The altercation left Bright in the hospital, pondering assault charges on Smith. Smith will look to help the Panthers rebound from the Nov. 24, 2002 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, with a victory over the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 1, 2002.

Julius Peppers (DE), who is leading the league in sacks, dropped his appeal of a 4-game suspension by the league. Peppers will miss the next four games, but will be eligible for the Pro Bowl if he is selected.

After snapping their 15-game losing streak in the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens, things are looking up for Rodney Peete and the Carolina Panthers.
