The Dallas Cowboys have defeated the Washington Redskins 10 consecutive times, including this years 27-20 triumph on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28, 2002). Emmit Smith (RB) ran for a season-high 144 yards against Steve Spurrier, who implicitly made Emmitt enter the 1989 draft as an underclassmen (Junior).

Darren Woodson (S) will be out indefinitely after sustaining an abdominal injury in the Cowboys 20-3 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Nov. 17, 2002.  The Cowboys will look to get in playoff contention on Nov. 28, 2002 with a victory over Steve Spurrier and the Washington Redskins.

Jeremy McKinney (OL) underwent cardiac surgery (angioplasty) on Nov. 4, 2002 after checking himself into the emergency room after the Cowboys 9-7 loss to the Detroit Lions on Nov. 3, 2002. Tests revealed McKinney had a narrowing of an artery. Fans will be delighted to know the surgery was a success and McKinney's  prognosis is excellent. Jeremy is a 4th year veteran from the University of Iowa.

Running back Emmitt Smith broke Walter Payton's all-time rushing title (16,726 yards) on Oct. 27, 2002 against the Seattle Seahawks . The record has stood since 1987. Jerry Rice (WR - Oakland Raiders) broke Walter Payton's all-time total yards record on Sept 29, 2002. Smith broke the record on a 11-yard run with 9:10 left in the fourth quarter. Emmitt Smith has 16,734 career rushing yards in 13 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.

RB Emmitt Smith stole the spotlight in the final game at the Pontiac Silverdome, the former home of Detroit Lions great Barry Sanders. Smith became the first player in NFL history to reach 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, surpassing a record of 10 he shared with Sanders, in the season-ending 15-10 loss to the Lions. Needing 56 yards to reach 1,0000, Smith rushed for 45 by halftime. With under four minutes left in the third quarter, Smith took a pitch left and ran behind Pro Bowl G Larry Allen for a 13-yard gain to pass 1,000 yards. Smith rushed for 1,021 yards on 261 carries this season. It appeared Smith would fall short of the feat, but he rushed for a total of 331 yards over the last three weeks. ... The Cowboys have finished 5-11 in each of coach Dave Campo's two seasons. Agents are judged by their peers and the recruitment of college players as future clients is based largely on the size of today's rookie contracts.
