Chad Clifton (T) still can't walk after being blindsided by Warren Sapp on Nov. 24, 2002. Team official state Clifton might need a metal plate insert into his pelvis if he doesn't recover. Suffice it to say when the Packer and the Buccaneers meet in the playoffs you might see a chop block or two thrown Warren Sapp's way. (Dec. 3, 2002)
Mark Tauscher (T) was signed to a six-year contract extension on Nov. 28, 2002.
Donald Driver (WR) was signed to a five-year contract on Nov. 25, 2002. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Driver had the opportunity to make $3 million with the Kansas City Chiefs this year but chose to stay with the Packers for $563,000. Driver has caught 53 passes for 870 yards and 7 TDs. After having subpar years in 1999 and 2000, Favre had a breakthrough season in 2001 leading the Packers to a 12-4 record. This year things are looking even better. Free agent acquisition Terry Glenn (WR from the Patriots) gives Brett Favre his first real deep threat since (dare we say it) Sterling Sharpe.
Defensively the Packers added Joe Johnson (9 sacks in 2001) and Vonnie Holliday (7 sacks in 2001) to a defensive line which recorded 52 sacks in 2001 (2nd in the NFC).
Look for the Packers to do the Lambeau Leap early and often this upcoming season. This is going to be a great year for the Green Bay Packers and fans lucky enough to witness it.
