Newsworthy With Saturday's victory over Lloyd Carr and the Michigan Wolverines, the Iowa Hawkeyes will be looking to clinch the schools first bowl alliance bid with victories over the Wisconsin Badgers (Nov. 2, 2002), Northwestern Wildcats (Nov. 9, 2002), and the Minnesota Golden Gophers (Nov. 16, 2002). The Hawkeyes will not face the Ohio State Buckeyes this season. But, would win the Big Ten championship if there was a two way tie with the Ohio State. But, first up for the Iowa Hawkeyes (8-1) is a big game against the dangerous Wisconsin Badgers (6-3) on Nov. 2, 2002.

NFL Tickets Center Outlook
 Ferentz has turned things around at Iowa, and after a 7-5 season that included a satisfying victory over Texas Tech in the Alamo Bowl, the next step for the Hawkeyes will be competing for the Big Ten championship. QB Banks must turn potential into steady performances week to week, while RBs Greving and Russell must make up for the graduation loss of Betts (who finished his outstanding career with 3,682 yards rushing, 25 TDs and 71 receptions in four years as the featured back). Hill's loss is significant because of his WR/return skills, but Jones has plenty of ability and redshirt freshman Hinkel could be one of the top newcomers in the Big Ten. Clark is a superb TE, while the O-line is a veteran group led by underrated center Nelson. On defense, everything hinges on the performance of the line. Cole is a proven standout, but Clauss, Hodges and Babineaux need to pick up the slack. Barr leads the way at MLB, while Sanders is a play-making safety with All-American potential. Also, Sapp is a proven cover man.
