The Insider LowDown: NFL Tickets Center Outlook: Free Agent Acquisitions On Sept. 30, 2002 the Grizzlies signed free agent Tang Hamilton (F, waived Oct. 17, 2002), Mark Vershaw (F, waived Oct. 8, 2002), Rob Dryden (C, waived Oct. 8, 2002) and Cory Bradford (G, waived Oct. 17, 2002). On July 22, 2002 the Grizzlies signed Cezary Trybanski (C). On July 18, 2002 the Grizzlies signed Gordan Giricek (G). On May 1, 2002 the Grizzlies lured Jerry West out of retirement and named him director of basketball operations. West won seven world championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, including one as a player. Trades The Grizzlies traded Nick Anderson (G) and the rights to Matt Barnes (F) to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Wesley Person (G) on June 27, 2002. The Grizzlies acquired the rights to Chris Owens (F) from the Milwaukee Bucks for a 2003 second-round pick on June 27, 2002. |
