Cato June (S) will miss the Wolverines game against the Michigan State Spartans on Nov. 2, 2002 due to a concussion suffered on Oct. 26, 2002 against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The 13th ranked Wolverines will look to win Michigan bragging rights this weekend against a struggling Spartans team.
Lawrence Reid (LB) was released from hospitals on Oct. 14, 2002. Reid has been suffering from blood clots and will miss the rest of the 2002 season.
Bill Martin (Athletic Director) on Oct. 15, 2002 stated the natural grass turf at Michigan Stadium will be replaced before the 2003 season. The University has brought in turf samples from across the country and believe a change needs to be made after witnessing footing problems for the better part of the season. Lloyd Carr told Detroit newspapers he is in favor of installing artificial turf. "I'm convinced at this point that it's just not possible to have the kind of system there that will allow you to play seven or eight games a year on that turf and have it be safe and present the type of footing that you would like to have athletes have,"
