Joe Horn (WR) led the way for the Saints, as New Orleans upset their division rivals Tampa Bay 23-20 on Dec. 1, 2002. Horn caught five passes for 5 passes for 106 yards including a pivotal 14-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. The Saints will look to get themselves into the playoff picture with a victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Dec. 8, 2002.
The Saints have quietly signed Victor Riley (OT) to a contract extension through the 2004 season. Riley is a 4th year Tackle from Auburn University. (Nov. 22, 2002)
Wally Williams (OL) will miss the Saints next four games after violating the leagues substance abuse policy. Neither the league or the team disclosed which substance was found. (Nov. 12, 2002)
Dale Carter (CB) was reinstated by the NFL on Nov. 5, 2002 following his suspension for violating the leagues substance abuse policy.

After a dismal 7-9 season and losing Ricky Williams to the Miami Dolphins (not to mention the draft picks to acquire him) you might think this would be a rebuilding year for the New Orleans Saints. Think again.
Aaron Brooks, days after signing a 6 year $36 million dollar contract extension, goes out and has the game of his career. Brooks led the Saints to a victory over a very competitive Tampa Bay Buccaneers team (even bigger considering Tampa Bay is now a divisional opponent). It should also be noted that Deuce McCallister (RB) had a great performance (31car 109yds).
If the Saints can rack up a couple of wins early look out. Aaron Brooks has the versatility to lead the New Orleans Saints to the playoffs all by himself. If his supporting cast (Joe Horn and Deuce McCallister) have some big games early and take some of the pressure off of Aaron Brooks the Saints could definitely contend for the NFC South divisional title.
