Isaiah Kacyvenski (MLB) will miss the rest of the 2002 season after being placed on the injured reserve list on Dec. 4, 2002 with a high ankle sprain. Kacyvenski sustained the injury 4 weeks ago and will undergo surgery on his shoulder, which has been troubling him all season long. Konrad Dean (OL) was signed from the practice squad to fill Kacyvenski's spot on the active roster.

Chris Terry (OT) was claimed off waivers from the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 22, 2002. To make room on the 53-man active roster the Seahawks released Kevin Kasper (WR).

Chad Brown (LB) season ended after breaking his right foot on Nov. 3, 2002 against the Washington Redskins. Brown is a 9th year veteran from the University of Colorado. Brown had 50 tackles and 6 sacks this season.

Trent Dilfer (QB) had a season ending injury on Oct. 27, 2002 against the Dallas Cowboys. Dilfer underwent surgery on his right Achilles' tendon on Oct. 28, 2002. Mike Holmgrem said Matt Hasselbeck will replace Dilfer as a starter, although he will tryout many quarterbacks this week, including Jeff George (former Atltanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts quarterback)

Although the Seattle Seahawks lost their season opener to the Oakland Raiders they at least made a respectable showing despite accumulating less than 200 total yards of offense. Trent Dilfer looks to return to the Seahawks lineup as soon as Sept 15 (Home opener against the Arizona Cardinals). If the Shaun Alexander (RB) can build on the breakthrough season he had last year the Seahawks will follow. On the other hand if Shaun Alexander has an off year, neither Trent Dilfer or Matt Hasselback will be able to guide the Seahawks to victory.

Defensively Isaiah Kacyvenski had a big first game with 17 tackles (12 solo) and one forced fumble. If Kacyvenski and the rest of the Seahawks defense can shut down opposing teams look for the Seahawks to make a run for the playoffs. If they give up over 400 yards of offense and 31 points look for the Seahawks to struggle all year.
